Mpongwe Training
PowerClub Training
We have just returned from 3 days of training in Mpongwe, a rural area about 1,5 hours drive from our home. About 20 people attended the training, and here are some of the comments:
This training does not only impart knowledge,
it transforms lives
"I’ve worked with children for 5 years, but this is my first time to be trained. Everything I’m learning is new to me. I’m sure from here, our ministry will do very well."
"This is the first time I’ve been trained in leading children into God’s presence and walking in the supernatural. We normally teach, memorise scriptures and say the Lord’s prayer, but this training has opened my eyes to how much further you can take children in the Spirit."
Equipped with new Knowledge and Skills
The PowerClub Training is a 16 lesson course, that equips people to start and run a PowerClub – a children’s ministry where children are taught the Word of God, equipped for ministry and encounter God on a regular basis. The training is a combination of foundational teaching on what the Bible says about children and God’s heart for children, and practical sessions that give hands-on tools on how to minister to children.
Filled with the Holy Spirit
In Mpongwe Malene especially felt to emphasise on children being filled with the Holy Spirit. We shared many creative ways of how to teach children on the subject, as well as how to lead them in a time of receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. But whenever we teach on this subject, we also know, that many of the adults have little understanding about this and are not filled with the Holy Spirit themselves. We had a very special time with the trainees in Mpongwe, where many where filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues for the first time, while others had a fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit.
A Good Host – a New Partner
Joe & Kalita where our hosts during the training, both with a big heart for the next generation. Joe is involved in training of youth pastors around the country as well as pastoring in the local church, while Kalita is devoted to children’s ministry. She is passionate and very gifted in this area, and we are excited to see how she will help planting and overseeing PowerClubs in her area.
On the last day of the training we like to invite children from the area for a full PowerClub service. It was a joy to see the smiles on their faces as they participated in games and new praise songs, and a great moment for both kids and adults as we gathered in worship and drawing near to our best friend Jesus. For many, this will be the very first time to lead children into an encounter with God.
